Pulmonary Disease and Critical Care Associates opened the Center for Sleep Disorders in May 2009. It is located in a modern office building in a quiet neighborhood of Columbia, MD.
The sleep center consists of six private bedrooms, each with the following features:
- Queen sized bed
- Private bathroom and shower

- Wireless internet access
The Center for Sleep Disorders is the only comprehensive sleep medicine center in Howard County employing full-time specialists in both Sleep Medicine and Behavioral Sleep Medicine, a new subspecialty field with fewer than 200 practitioners nationwide. You will receive care from a unified treatment team dedicated to compassionate patient care.
Thanks to state-of-the-art technologies and developments, sleep disorders can now be treated and maintained better than ever before. Advancements in the field of behavioral sleep medicine have been especially beneficial in the management of this unique set of disorders.
Common sleep disorders include:
- Insomnia
- Snoring
- Sleep apnea
- Circadian rhythm disorders
- Narcolepsy
- Nightmare disorder
- Restless legs syndrome
- Periodic limb movement disorder
- Shift-work disorder
- And many others
At the Center for Sleep Disorders, we employ a mind-body approach to treating sleep disorders. Symptoms of sleep disorders can be difficult to recognize and are easily mistaken for symptoms of other diseases. Further, sleep disorders are likely to co-exist with other medical conditions as well as other sleep disorders. This makes thorough assessment, accurate diagnosis, and comprehensive treatment from a team of sleep medicine specialists essential.
Our combined use of medication therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy utilizes a number of strategies that address personal, physiologic, cognitive, and behavioral factors that may be contributing to your sleep problem. As a result, your treatment will be individualized in order to target your unique factors and symptoms.
